Reflection

One of the most common ways we fail to depend on God is by trusting in our own wisdom rather than His. We practice a kind of superficial faith where we give lip service to God but ultimately trust in our common sense, our ability to solve problems, or even artificial intelligence and cultural wisdom more than God's Word.

The problem is that our feelings and instincts often lie to us. There are countless things that feel right in the moment but lead to dead ends and regret. Maybe you've experienced this—a relationship that seemed perfect at first, a rushed financial decision, or a career move that felt right but turned out wrong.

God's wisdom, found in His Word and especially in the teachings of Jesus, always leads to life. It might not always be the easy or comfortable path, but it's always the path to blessing. When you bring your decisions to God in prayer, digest the Bible consistently, and focus on what Jesus taught, you position yourself to receive divine guidance.

Getting God's wisdom isn't passive—it requires intentional action. It means praying throughout the day, making the Bible a regular part of your life, and specifically studying Jesus's teachings. When you do this, God promises to make your paths straight and lead you in the right direction.

Father, I confess that I often lean on my own understanding instead of trusting You. Give me Your wisdom for the decisions I face today. Help me to seek Your guidance in Your Word and to listen for Your voice. Make my paths straight as I submit my ways to You. Amen.
