Reflection

Barnabas never wrote a single book of the Bible. But without him, much of the New Testament may never have existed. He vouched for Paul when the church was afraid. He rescued John Mark when Paul had written him off. He went to Antioch when God was doing something unexpected, and he was glad. He poured everything he had into people and purposes greater than himself, and the fruit of his faithfulness is still being harvested two thousand years later.

All of us need a Barnabas. But every one of us is also called to be someone else's Barnabas. That is not optional. It is not reserved for the spiritually mature or the naturally encouraging. It is the calling of every follower of Jesus — to show up for someone who needs to know they are not alone.

You may never preach to thousands. You may never plant a church or write a book or lead a movement. But you can show up. You can see someone. You can say with your presence and your words: God is not finished with you.

Encouragement is not a footnote to the gospel. It is the gospel in action.

So here is the question that matters most. Not "Did you have a Barnabas?" You probably did. But — Whose Barnabas will you be?

Go build a cathedral to the Almighty. One encouraging word, one open hand, one courageous act of belief in someone else — one brick at a time.

Action Step

Write down the name of one person you are committing to be a Barnabas to — intentionally, consistently, over the next season of your life. Put their name somewhere you will see it daily, and pray for them every morning.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for every Barnabas You have placed in my life. Now make me one. Not for my own glory, but for Yours. Take everything You have built in me through these fourteen days and let it overflow into the life of someone who needs it. I commit to being present, being generous, being encouraging — by the power of Your Spirit, not my own strength. Make me a cathedral builder, Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen.
