Steve Sharp's story illustrates a profound truth about depending on God. Facing the triple threat of addiction, cancer, and limited resources, Steve chose to fight his battle by trusting God to guide him. He kept his eyes on the Lord to the very end, and though his body succumbed to disease, he never relapsed into addiction. He finished his race victoriously, not because his circumstances were ideal, but because he maintained his dependence on God.

Victory doesn't always look the way we expect. We want God to remove our problems, heal our diseases, and solve our crises instantly. Sometimes He does. But often, victory means having the strength to endure with faith intact, the courage to make wise choices under pressure, and the grace to restore relationships before it's too late. Steve's life ended in victory because he fought the good fight and kept the faith. His eyes remained fixed on God when everything else was falling apart.

Whatever battle you're facing, the key to victory is surrender—not giving up, but giving over control to God. Seek His kingdom first. Pursue what He cares about: caring for the poor, comforting those who mourn, sharing the gospel. When you align your life with God's purposes, you're actually seeking Him. And when you seek Him, everything else falls into the proper place. Your circumstances may not change immediately, but your perspective will. And that perspective—seeing through eyes fixed on God—makes all the difference.
