This Is Your Year

"Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD their God." Psalm 146:5

Reflection

As you stand at the beginning of this new year, there's a sense of possibility in the air—a feeling that things can be different, that this year could be the year everything changes. And here's the good news: it can be. But only if you're willing to stop depending on yourself and start depending completely on God.

The blessed life isn't about having more money, possessions, or status. It's about recognizing you need more of God. It's not about being self-sufficient; it's about being God-dependent. It's not about your strength, your wisdom, or your resources—it's about His.

God wants you to have the happiest, most fulfilled life possible. The key is becoming poor in spirit—utterly dependent on Him. This means depending on His wisdom when you face decisions, His riches when you're worried about provision, and His strength when you're feeling weak.

There's a blessing on your life that no person and no circumstance can take away, and it all depends on who you depend on. Will you trust in yourself or in God? Will you lean on your own understanding or His wisdom? Will you find security in your bank account or in His provision?

Before this day ends, do something tangible. Pray a prayer of surrender. Make that phone call. Open your Bible. Take one step—any step—that moves you toward deeper dependence on God. A year from now, you'll be grateful you did.

Reflection Question

When you look back on this year next December, what would need to happen for you to say it was truly blessed?

Action Step

Write out your commitment to depend on God this year. Include specific areas where you'll trust His wisdom, provision, and strength.

Prayer

Father, this is my year to live truly blessed. I commit to depending on You—not on myself. I will trust Your wisdom, not my own understanding. I will rely on Your provision, not my own resources. I will draw on Your strength, not my limited power. Thank You that You bless those who humbly depend on You. Make this a year of transformation in my life. Amen.
