"He will not grow faint or be discouraged till He has established justice in the earth." — Isaiah 42:4 (ESV)
Reflection
Harriet Tubman, conductor on the Underground Railroad, had every reason to stop. She had earned her freedom. She was hunted, exhausted, and in chronic pain from a childhood brain injury. And yet she made nineteen trips back into slave territory. She once said she never lost a passenger.
What kept her going was not her own strength — it was the Spirit of God guiding her through the darkness.
Jesus operated by that same Spirit. He was opposed, hunted, and facing a conspiracy among the Pharisees to kill him. Yet He kept healing. He kept serving. He kept sacrificing.
There is something deeply holy about the act of simply continuing. Not performing. Not winning arguments. Just continuing. When suffering presses in from every side, the enemy wants you to believe that stopping is reasonable, even righteous. But God calls us to a different kind of endurance — one rooted not in our own willpower, but in the Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead.
That same Spirit lives in you. Suffering is not a sign that God has abandoned you. Sometimes it is the very road He walks with you.
Reflection Question
What area of your life are you most tempted to quit, and what would it look like to trust God's Spirit to carry you forward?
Action Step
Write down one thing you have been putting off out of weariness. Take one small step toward it today in prayer.
Prayer
Lord, I am tired in ways I cannot always explain. But You never grow faint. You never lose a passenger. Carry me today by Your Spirit. Let me take one step forward in faith, trusting that You are walking with me through every dark forest. Amen.
