Reflection

Joseph had success even while he was a slave. He could have lamented his position, focused on the negative, and thought, "As soon as I get out of here, I'll be faithful to God." But he didn't become sullen or bitter. He was faithful right where he was with what he had. His stewardship was grounded in recognizing that everything came from God and giving thanks for every gift.

Good stewardship cannot exist without gratitude. Life cannot truly be rich without thankfulness. When you're not constantly grateful for what God has done for you, you probably won't use His gifts for His purposes and glory. Gratitude shifts your perspective from scarcity to abundance, from entitlement to appreciation, from complaint to contentment.

God has given you everything you need. Not everything you want, but everything you need for a godly life. This is an incredible promise. You woke up today—thank God. You have breath in your lungs—thank God. You have friends, family, a job, a home, or just the fact that you made it this far—thank God. These aren't small things; they're miraculous provisions from a loving Father.

Don't delay gratitude. Give thanks immediately. Make it a habit, a lifestyle, a constant conversation with God. Thankfulness protects you from the twin dangers of entitlement and despair, keeping your heart soft and responsive to God's leading.

Write down ten things you're grateful for today. Share your gratitude with God in prayer, and if appropriate, thank the people involved.

Prayer

Gracious Father, forgive me for my ungrateful heart. You have given me everything I need, yet I often focus on what I lack. Open my eyes to see Your abundant provision all around me. Thank You for another day of life, for breath, for relationships, for opportunities. Like Joseph, help me be faithful and grateful right where I am with what I have. May my gratitude overflow into generous stewardship. Amen.
