When Mary asked, "How will this be, since I am a virgin?" she wasn't expressing doubt—she was asking a practical question. The angel's answer reveals a profound truth about how God works: "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you."
The miracle wouldn't happen because of Mary's strength, ability, education, or background. It would happen because God's power would overshadow her weakness. This is how God still works today.
Perhaps you've thought: "I'm too young to do anything significant for God." Or "I'm too old—my time has passed." Maybe you feel disqualified by your past mistakes or your lack of faith. But your age, history, and circumstances aren't problems for God. Elizabeth was too old to have children; Mary was barely a teenager. Yet when God moved, both became pregnant with promise.
When you pray, remember this: God's biggest purposes for your life can only be accomplished through God's power. Your prayers are effective not because you're strong, eloquent, or faithful enough, but because the power of the Most High overshadows your weakness. Christmas proves that God specializes in using unlikely people to accomplish impossible things.

Action Step
Confess one area where you feel inadequate to God. Thank Him that His power is made perfect in your weakness, and ask Him to overshadow that area with His strength.

Holy Spirit, come upon me. Let Your power overshadow my weaknesses, fears, and limitations. Help me stop relying on my own strength and instead trust in Yours. Use me despite my inadequacies, just as You used Mary. Amen.
