Reflection
Judas had a secret. While walking with Jesus, performing miracles, and living among the disciples, he was stealing from the money bag. His heart was divided between following Jesus and loving money. When the chief priests asked what he wanted in exchange for betraying Jesus, his answer revealed where his true treasure lay: "What are you willing to give me?"
We cannot serve two masters. We cannot love money and love Jesus. We cannot treasure earthly security and treasure heavenly riches. A divided heart is a vulnerable heart, and greed—whether for money, power, recognition, or comfort—makes us easy targets for failure.
Prayer exposes the competing loyalties in our hearts. When we pray, "Search me, O God, and know my heart," we invite Him to reveal what we're really treasuring. Prayer also realigns our desires. The more time we spend in God's presence, talking with Him about our lives, the more our hearts begin to treasure what He treasures. Through consistent prayer, our divided hearts can become whole again, fully devoted to the One who truly satisfies.
Action Step
Ask God to reveal what you're treasuring more than Him. Confess any greed or divided loyalty, and pray for a generous, undivided heart.
Prayer
Lord, search my heart and reveal any greed or divided loyalty. Help me treasure You above all else. Make me generous instead of grasping. Amen.
