"I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought." 1 Corinthians 1:10

Reflection

Jesus prayed for us in John 17. He prayed for you and for me, that we would be "one" (unified, together, of the same heart and mind).

That's the amazing truth we must grasp—before you were born, Jesus prayed for your unity with other believers. He prayed that you would be part of His great alliance, His coalition against the enemy's schemes. 

The prayer has been prayed; now it's time to take your place.

Paul echoed Jesus' heart when he appealed to the Corinthian church to be united. This unity requires more than nice words—it takes skin in the game, showing up, and taking your place to draw the line in the sand. It means building bridges of dialogue across racial, cultural, and denominational lines. It means being willing to work, worship, and serve with believers who might do things differently than you.

Don't be afraid or anxious about overcoming divisions. When we come together, we can see the enemy defeated and the world reborn. Let black churches, brown churches, and white churches come together as one. Let the global church rise in complete unity. Jesus promised, "On this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it."

The coalition is gathering. Will you take your place?

What specific role might God be calling you to play in building unity among His people?

Action Step

Pray for other believers today. Confess any way that you may have created or abided division. After you pray, reach out to one other believer to encourage them. 

Prayer

Father, Jesus prayed for us to be one, and I want to answer that prayer with my life. I'm taking my place in Your great alliance. Show me where I fit, who I should partner with, and how I can help build the unity You desire. I believe that together, in Your power, we can overcome every division and see Your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
