"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth." (2 Timothy 2:15, NIV)
Reflection
Setting our hearts on God's Word must lead to actually studying it. Ezra didn't merely appreciate Scripture from a distance or admire it as great literature. He devoted himself to understanding it deeply, examining it carefully, and allowing it to shape his thinking and worldview.
Many of us resist the idea of studying the Bible. Study sounds like work, and we already have enough demands on our time. But God calls every follower of Christ to be a lifelong learner. Consider George Müller, who read through the entire Bible four times every year while pastoring a church and caring for hundreds of orphans. He made time for what he treasured.
We can be thankful that God has given us minds capable of learning and understanding His truth. We can be grateful that through study, prayer, and the Holy Spirit's guidance, we can grasp spiritual truths that transform our lives. Bible study isn't drudgery—it's discovery. It's finding treasures hidden in God's Word that apply directly to our circumstances and needs.
When we study God's Word, we're not just gaining information. We're positioning ourselves to know God more intimately and to recognize His voice more clearly in our daily lives.
