"My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever." Psalm 73:26
Reflection
Many of us are starting this new year already tired. Last year may have been difficult, and you were just grateful to turn the page. We all get weary—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. When that happens, we feel downhearted and overwhelmed by our circumstances. But that's not the blessed life God has for us.
The good news is that God's strength is unlimited. We don't have to rely on our limited energy and resources. Psalm 84:5 declares, "Happy are the people whose strength is in You." True blessing comes when we stop trying to power through life in our own strength and instead draw from God's inexhaustible resources.
The story of missionary E. Stanley Jones illustrates this beautifully. When he was battling crippling anxiety and exhaustion, God spoke to him: "If you will turn that over to me, and not worry about it, I will take care of it." The moment Jones surrendered his burden, abundant life and peace took possession of him.
Every day you have access to a divine source of strength. Even when life is falling apart and your own resources are depleted, God remains the strength of your heart. The key is surrendering your burdens to Him instead of trying to carry them yourself.
Reflection Question
What burden are you trying to carry in your own strength that you need to turn over to God?
Action Step
Identify one area where you're feeling overwhelmed or exhausted. Pray specifically, asking God to be your strength in that situation.
Prayer
God, I'm tired and weary. I've been trying to handle everything in my own strength, and I'm depleted. I surrender my burdens to You right now. Be the strength of my heart. Fill me with Your power and peace. Help me to rest in Your unlimited resources instead of striving in my limited ones. Amen.
