Stay Home

Scripture of the Day

"Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly..." — Colossians 3:16 NIV

Reflection

Coming home to God is the first step. But the call doesn't end there. John's invitation in chapter 15 is to abide, which is a call to stay — to deepen the relationship over time, to go further into the house, to explore more rooms. God's house has many rooms, and the life of faith is an invitation to explore them.

Staying home in Christ means cultivating the kind of inward order that keeps you connected to the life source. It means feeding on His Word consistently, not just in moments of crisis. It means developing a rhythm of prayer that shapes your days rather than an emergency call you make when things fall apart. It means learning to notice the Spirit's movements in your ordinary life.

Meister Eckhart spoke of a place in the depths of the soul where God alone can dwell — a place where we sink into what he called "the eternity of the Divine essence." This is not reserved for mystics and monks. It is available to every believer who is willing to go deeper.

The soul that doesn't drink regularly from the depths of God will become dry and brittle. Jesus said, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink." The invitation is ongoing and open-ended. There is always more of God to be discovered. Staying home means choosing, day after day, to keep exploring.

Reflection Question

What spiritual practices help you stay consistently connected to God, and which ones have you let slip that need to be reclaimed?

Action Step

Choose one spiritual practice — Bible reading, journaling, prayer, fasting — that you will commit to for the next seven days without missing a day.

Prayer

Lord, I want to go deeper. I don't want to be content with the shallows of religious routine. Draw me further in. Let Your Word dwell richly in me. Teach me to stay — not out of obligation but out of love, because there is no better place to be than in Your presence. Amen.
