Daniel 7:13-14 — "There before me was one like a son of man...He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him."
Reflection
The title "Son of Man" carries a hidden layer of meaning. It doesn't only point backward to Jesus' full humanity — it points forward to his divine authority.
The prophet Daniel had a vision of a figure called "one like a son of man" who approached the Ancient of Days and was given everlasting dominion over all nations. Every kingdom that had ever existed would crumble and fade, but his kingdom would never be destroyed.
Jesus takes this title and claims it as his own. He is simultaneously the man who wept at a tomb and the ruler before whom every knee will one day bow. He knows everything — he perceived the hidden motives of the Pharisees before they spoke. He rules everything — he commanded the winds and they obeyed him. He resisted sin perfectly and walked out of the grave under his own power.
This is the glory of Jesus: he holds both realities fully and without contradiction. He is approachable in his humanity and effective in his divinity. His humanity means you can come to him. His divinity means he can actually do something about what you bring.
Action Step
Read Colossians 2:9-10 slowly. Reflect on what it means that "all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form" in Jesus. Write one sentence about how that changes your confidence in prayer.

Lord Jesus, you are fully God and fully man. I come to you with confidence today, knowing you understand me and have the power to help. Amen.
