Have you ever experienced complete darkness? The kind where you can't see your hand in front of your face? In those moments, prayer becomes less about eloquent words and more about a desperate whisper: "O my God, this is dark." That's not profanity—it's honest prayer.

The ancient world knew this darkness intimately. When the sun set in Galilee, total darkness fell. Most people couldn't afford candles or oil lamps for everyday use. They lived with the darkness, waiting for morning light. Similarly, we often find ourselves groping through seasons of spiritual darkness, not knowing which way to turn.

In these moments, persistence in prayer isn't about maintaining perfect faith or using the right words. It's about continuing to reach out to God even when we can't see Him, even when our prayers feel like they're disappearing into the void. The prophet Isaiah understood this—he wrote to people living under the threat of invasion, people who were on edge and desperate for hope.

Your persistent prayers in the darkness are not wasted. They are the very thing that keeps you connected to the Light, even when you cannot yet see Him shining.
