Prayer

Father, forgive me for the ways I have underestimated prayer -- treating it as a ritual rather than a reality. Teach me to believe that when I pray, things happen that would not otherwise happen. Give me the faithfulness of those thirty-nine intercessors: unnamed, unseen, showing up in the cold and the dark, writing their names in the record. Let my prayers be a force in the world I cannot always see. Amen.
