Prayer for In the Valley’s Shadow

A companion prayer to the In the Valley's Shadow Daily Devotion.

"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." — Psalm 23:4, NIV

Healer God, today I do not ask You to remove me from this valley — I ask You to be present in it with me. I confess that sometimes I mistake Your silence for absence, and Your refusal to take away my pain for a refusal to care. But I know that is not who You are. You are the shepherd who goes into the dark places. Walk with me today. Let me feel Your rod and Your staff. Let me know, beyond all doubt, that I am not alone. Heal the fear, even if the valley remains. Amen.
