Reflection
We live in an instant-gratification world, but spiritual growth operates on a different timeline. Sometimes we want to speak a word and immediately see transformation, but seeds often take considerable time to grow. They must go beneath the surface, develop roots, and do their hidden work before anything appears above ground.
Consider the farmer Hiroshi and his bamboo grove. For four years, nothing visible happened while neighbors judged him and even his family doubted. But beneath the soil, an intricate root system was spreading wide and deep, creating the foundation for explosive growth. In the fifth year, the bamboo shot up ninety feet in just six weeks. What appeared to be failure was actually preparation.
When you plant seeds of God's word through prayer, service, love shown to difficult people, or standing for righteousness, you may see no immediate results. The ground of your circumstances may look barren. But God is working beneath the surface. Your job is to plant and water. God's job is to make it grow.

- What "underground work" might God be doing in situations that look barren?
- How can you develop more patience with God's timing?
Action Step
Identify one relationship where you've been planting seeds without visible results. Commit to praying for that person weekly for the next month.
Prayer
Father, give me patience to trust Your timing. Help me believe that You're working beneath the surface even when I see nothing above ground. Grant me vision and faith to keep planting seeds. Amen.
