"But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life." — John 4:14 (NIV)
Reflection
When the woman at the well encountered Jesus, something remarkable happened: she left her water jar behind. That jar was not just a container—it was the symbol of her daily burden, her emptiness, her cycle of coming and going and never being truly filled.
She came for water and found her life transformed. The jar stayed; she ran to tell others.
What is the jar you are carrying? What patterns of emptiness, old wounds, or false sources of satisfaction are you still hauling back and forth?
Jesus is not asking you to try harder or do better. He is offering you living water—real and lasting satisfaction that comes only from him. The invitation is to set down what has never truly satisfied you and receive what only he can give.
Action Step
Spend some time journaling today. Write honestly about one area of your life where you keep returning to an empty source—a habit, a relationship pattern, a coping mechanism, an ambition. Then write a short prayer releasing it to God and asking him to fill that space with his living water.
Prayer
Jesus, I come to you today with my jar. I confess the places where I have looked for satisfaction in things that cannot satisfy. I am tired of the back and forth. I want what you offered the woman at the well—living water that truly fills. Help me leave behind what is empty and receive what is real. Amen.
