Scripture of the Day
“I have received full payment and have more than enough... They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.” — Philippians 4:18
Reflection
There is a principle at the heart of the gospel that we often resist: lavish love deserves a lavish response. We are comfortable receiving extravagantly from God -- forgiveness, grace, mercy, eternal life -- but when it comes to our response, we tend to negotiate downward. We give what is convenient, serve when it fits the schedule, and love only as far as it costs us nothing.
But consider what God has actually done. He did not send a representative or offer a partial solution. He gave His Son -- fully, finally, completely. Jesus withheld nothing. And that total self-giving, Paul tells us, was the ultimate fragrant offering, the one that all of Mary's perfume and all of Noah's sacrifices were pointing toward.
When we understand the scale of what has been given for us, the only reasonable response is everything. Not because God is demanding it under threat, but because love answered with love is the most natural movement of a grateful heart. Mary didn't calculate the cost of her offering against what was appropriate. She simply responded to what she had received.

Prayer
Lord, You held nothing back from me. Forgive me for the ways I negotiate my devotion and measure my surrender. Today I want to respond to Your lavish love with something that matters. Show me what that looks like in the ordinary hours of this day. Amen.
