"Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: 'Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever.' As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir…and they were defeated." - 2 Chronicles 20:21-22

Reflection

Who sings as they march into battle? Only God's people. 

In the most illogical military strategy imaginable, Jehoshaphat placed the worship team at the front of his army. Before the first sword was drawn, the first sound the enemy heard was praise to God. And as they began to sing, God began to work. The enemy armies turned on each other, and Judah won without lifting a weapon.

Worship in the midst of crisis is a profound act of faith. It declares that God is bigger than our circumstances, that His character doesn't change based on our situation, and that His love truly does endure forever. When we choose to praise God before we see the solution, we're demonstrating trust at the deepest level.

You might be in the middle of your own battle right now—financial pressure, health concerns, relationship struggles, uncertainty about the future. The natural response is to focus entirely on the problem, to let anxiety overwhelm you. But what if, like Jehoshaphat, you chose to sing first? Put on worship music. Sing hymns. Speak words of praise even when you don't feel like it. This isn't about denying reality or pretending everything is fine. It's about anchoring yourself in the unchanging truth of who God is, regardless of what you're facing. Keep singing in the battle. Your praise invites God's presence and power into your situation.

Create a playlist of worship songs or hymns that remind you of God's faithfulness. Listen to it today, singing along even if you don't feel like it.

Prayer

God, I choose to worship You even in the middle of this battle. You are good, You are faithful, and Your love endures forever. Help me to keep singing, trusting that You are working on my behalf. Amen.
