Reflection
The entire story of Jesus' humanity can be told in one gesture: he reached down and touched the terrified disciples. They didn't have the strength to rise on their own. They didn't work up enough courage. They didn't get themselves together. Jesus came to them, reached down, and lifted them.
But here is the beautiful other side of that truth: his humanity means we can reach back. He is not untouchable. He is not so far above us that approaching him requires elaborate ritual or perfect credentials. The writer of Hebrews says we can approach the throne of grace with confidence — because our High Priest has been where we are.
Reach back today. Bring him your weakness, your doubt, your gratitude, your need. His humanity invites your honesty. His divinity makes your prayer powerful. You are not bothering him. You are not too broken, too ordinary, or too far gone. He reached all the way down to you. Now reach back. That simple act of faith is where the life of following Jesus begins — and is renewed — every single day.
