Reflection

We end where we began — with the central question of this devotional: Is God good all the time? And after fourteen days of sitting with Psalm 23, with the words of Paul, David, and Jesus Himself, we return with a more grounded, tested answer. Not a shout on a good day, but a quiet, settled declaration: yes. God is good. All the time.

This is not a denial of pain or a dismissal of the valley. It is the conclusion that suffering, doubt, and darkness — all of it — has been met, entered into, and overcome by Jesus Christ, who is Lord. He wept. He prayed in agony. He cried out from the cross. And He rose. The resurrection is the ultimate answer to the question of God's goodness. Because of Jesus, we can say with David: "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever."

To confess Jesus as Lord is to confess this as ultimate truth. Not just Lord of the good days, but Lord of all days. Not just Savior for the moment, but Shepherd for eternity. When we cannot feel His goodness, we can confess it. When we can confess it, we find faith to walk through the valley. And when we walk through the valley trusting Him, we discover on the other side what David knew: the Lord was with us the whole time, and He was — He is — good. All the time.

Lord Jesus, You are good. All the time, in every season, in every valley — You are good. Thank You for walking with me, for restoring my soul, for preparing a table before me, and for promising me a forever home with You. You are my Shepherd, and You are Lord. Today and always. Amen.
