"Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them." — John 7:38 (NIV)
Reflection
Before you can give something away, you have to have it.
What is your personal level of living water right now?
It is easy to go through the motions of Christian life—attending church, using the right vocabulary, checking the right boxes—while living in a quiet spiritual drought.
The uncomfortable truth is that people around us can tell the difference. They are not looking for religious performance; they are looking for something real.
Brian McLaren captured it beautifully: true aliveness springs up from our innermost being like a fountain—not from rules, rituals, or controversies, but from a deep, living connection with Christ.
When that connection is genuine, it spills over into every conversation, every relationship, every ordinary day. The challenge is not to manufacture enthusiasm but to cultivate an honest, daily relationship with the source of living water himself.
Action Step
Before getting out of bed tomorrow morning, spend five minutes in quiet prayer using this simple request: "God, fill me with your presence today. Let your living water flow through me." Try this for the next seven days and notice what shifts in your interactions with others.
Prayer
Father, I confess that I sometimes try to give what I do not have. Forgive me for the times I have run dry and tried to hide it. Today I come to you thirsty, asking you to fill me—not just enough to get by, but to overflow. Let your joy, peace, and love be so present in me that others notice something different. Amen.
