“The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.” — John 12:3

Reflection

One jar. One woman. One act of unguarded love. And the whole house was filled. Not one corner untouched. Not one person present who did not experience it -- including the one who objected to it.

This is the vision God has for your life. Not a life that produces a faint spiritual scent in one or two relationships. Not a life that occasionally produces a good smell on Sunday mornings. A life so wholly given, so genuinely surrendered, so saturated with the love of Christ that every environment it enters is transformed by the fragrance.

You have been reading and reflecting for fourteen days on what it means to make your life a fragrant offering to God. You have considered your words, your gifts, your time, your obedience, your witness. Now the question that closes this journey is the same one it opened with: How does your life smell?

Not compared to others. Not on your best days. In the ordinary, Tuesday-morning, traffic-and-deadline, tired-and-distracted texture of your actual life -- what fragrance are you carrying? Because that is the life God wants to fill. Not the life you imagine you might offer someday -- this one, now, broken jar and all.

Break it open. Pour it out. Fill the house.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, I have heard again the story of Mary and her broken jar, and I want to be like her. Not perfect -- she wasn't perfect. Not without fear -- she surely felt it. But willing. Fully, finally, extravagantly willing to pour out everything at Your feet without calculating the cost. Take my words, my gifts, my time, my obedience, and my witness. Fill every room I enter with something that smells like You. Let my life be a fragrant offering -- not for a day or a season, but all the way to the end. Amen.
