Reflection

Don't ever forget that there is only one truly righteous person in this life, and you're not Him.

Everything you have depends on Jesus. Everything you are, every gift and talent you have, every breath you take, and every moment of joy you experience comes from Jesus. Every pain you experience is an opportunity for God's grace to bring healing and help.

This is the bedrock of abiding. We do not abide in our own righteousness — we have none that is worth anything before God. We do not abide in our spiritual performance. We abide in Him — in the One who is righteous, who was righteous on our behalf, who absorbed our sin and gave us His standing before the Father.

Abiding, at its core, is an act of humble dependence. It is the daily acknowledgment that you are a branch and He is the vine, and apart from Him you can do nothing. It is the recognition that every good thing in your life is a gift, not an achievement. It is the posture of open hands rather than clenched fists.

Throughout this day, make it your aim to abide in Christ. Let righteous acts flow from a life rooted in the only truly righteous One. And live — fully, freely, and without shame — in the confidence that He is yours and you are His.

What would change about your attitude, your anxiety, and your ambition if you genuinely believed that everything depends on Jesus and not on you?

Action Step

Write Romans 11:36 on a card and place it somewhere you will see it every day this week. Let it recalibrate your heart every morning.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, everything is Yours. My gifts, my breath, my days, my future — all of it comes from You and belongs to You. I release my grip on the idea that I am the source of anything good. You are the vine. I am the branch. Let me abide in You today, fully dependent, fully trusting, fully at home. To You be all the glory, forever. Amen.
