Scripture of the Day

"Moses called together the whole community of the people of Israel and said to them, 'This is what the LORD has commanded you to do.'" -- Exodus 35:1 (GNT)

Reflection

When God instructed Moses to build the Tabernacle -- a sanctuary in the wilderness -- He didn't ask the wealthy few to fund it while everyone else watched. He called the whole community. Every man, woman, and child was invited to bring something. And they gave so enthusiastically, so generously, that Moses eventually had to tell them to stop. The workers came to him and said there was more than enough. They had everything they needed and then some.

That moment in the wilderness is a picture of what happens when everyone participates. Not just the generous few subsidizing the reluctant many. Everyone praying. Everyone serving. Everyone giving according to what they have. The result is not scarcity but surplus. Not barely enough but more than enough.

This is the vision of the body of Christ functioning as it was designed. Every member contributing. Every person offering what they have -- time, skills, finances, prayer -- and the whole becoming far greater than the sum of its parts. No one carrying a burden they were never meant to carry alone. No one sitting on the sidelines while others do the work.

You have a part to play. Your contribution -- however it compares to those around you -- is not optional. The community needs what you carry. Your absence is a gap. Your presence and your giving are irreplaceable.

In what areas of life -- giving, serving, praying -- have you been sitting on the sidelines, assuming others will carry the load?

Identify one community, church, or cause where you have been a spectator rather than a participant. Take one step today toward active, contributing involvement.

Prayer

Father, I don't want to be a bystander. I want to be part of what You are building. Show me my part. Give me the courage and the will to play it fully, trusting that my contribution -- however small it seems -- matters to You. Amen.
