"At the name of Jesus every knee should bow... and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord." — Philippians 2:10-11 (ESV)

Reflection

Paul's letter to the Philippians contains one of the most exalted proclamations about Jesus in all of Scripture. He describes the divine humility of Christ, who "emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men" (Philippians 2:7). The One who was fully God became fully human — not to rule with force, but to serve, and ultimately to give His life as a sacrifice.

Because of this, God "highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name." The Lordship of Jesus is not merely a religious title — it is a cosmic reality. One day, every person who has ever lived will acknowledge it. Every ruler, every skeptic, every nation, and every spiritual power will bow and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. This will not be reluctant acknowledgment — it will be the unveiling of the truth that was always there.

But the invitation of the gospel is to confess it now, freely, with faith and love. Romans 10:9 says, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." The confession that every knee will one day be compelled to make, we can choose to make today — not out of obligation, but out of love for the One who humbled Himself for us.

Reflection Question

Have you truly confessed Jesus as Lord — not just Savior, but the One who has authority over every area of your life?

Action Step

Say out loud today: "Jesus, You are Lord." Then identify one specific area of your life where you have not yet submitted to His Lordship, and surrender it in prayer.

Prayer

Jesus, You are Lord. Above every name, every power, every circumstance in my life — You reign. Today I choose to bow my knee willingly before You, in love and gratitude for all You have done. Be Lord over every part of me. Amen.
