"...he emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men." - Philippians 2:7
Reflection
Philippians 2 gives us a stunning window into what it cost Jesus to become human. He was in the form of God — holding every attribute of divinity — and yet he emptied himself. He set aside the privileges of heaven. He took the form of a servant. He was born in the likeness of ordinary people and humbled himself to the point of death.
This was not a small thing. The One who spoke galaxies into existence chose to learn to walk, to depend on sleep, to need food, to feel pain. He traded the worship of angels for the confusion of disciples who never quite got it right.
Why? Because you were worth it. Because the only way to rescue us was to become one of us. His self-emptying was an act of the most extravagant love imaginable. Every limitation Jesus accepted in his humanity was accepted willingly — for you. When you feel small or weak or unworthy today, remember: the Son of God considered you worth every sacrifice.

What does it mean to you personally that Jesus willingly chose weakness and limitation for your sake?
Action Step
Find a quiet moment to read Philippians 2:5-11 slowly. Let it sink in. Write one sentence of response to what Jesus gave up for you.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I can barely grasp what you gave up to come for me. You emptied yourself of glory so that I might be filled. Thank you. Make me someone who lives today in light of that love. Amen.
