Confronting the Sin Within

"God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ." 2 Corinthians 5:21

Reflection

Nothing takes our peace away like sin, because sin separates us from God. It divides our hearts, hinders our prayers, and limits our spiritual impact. When we persist in sin, it robs us of peace. God knew we needed help, which is why Zechariah prophesied that the Messiah would give His people "the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God."

That word "tender" suggests a mother holding a child with gentle love—that's how God deals with us. We were in trouble, and He came to save us. Jesus took our place and paid the price for our sins. Though He never sinned, He willingly took on our punishment. God is so rich in mercy that even though we were dead because of our sins, He made us alive with Christ—it is by grace we have been saved!

To truly experience peace this Christmas, it's not enough to desire God's good things. You need to actively address your sinful actions and thoughts. Name your sin—your failure, habit, or hangup. Confess it to God and ask for forgiveness. Then ask someone else to help you be accountable. If you want to be changed and healed, admit your struggle to another person who will pray for you and walk with you through it.

Reflection Question

What sin or struggle is currently robbing you of peace, and who could you ask to help hold you accountable?

Action Step

Name one specific sin to God today and confess it honestly, asking for both forgiveness and the power to change.

Prayer

Lord, I confess that sin has stolen my peace. Thank You for Your tender mercy and for sending Jesus to pay the price I could never pay. Forgive me, cleanse me, and help me walk in Your light. Give me courage to be honest with someone who can help me grow. Amen.
