"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given...And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6
Reflection
As we conclude this season of reflection, we return to where we began: the promise of peace and joy through Jesus Christ. Zechariah prophesied that the Messiah would guide our feet in the path of peace. Elizabeth declared Mary blessed because she believed God’s promises. The angels announced good news of great joy for all people. All these threads weave together in the person of Jesus—the Prince of Peace who brings joy to the world.
God invites you to come home to Him this Christmas. When you come home to God, you’re coming home to joy and peace—not the temporary, circumstantial peace the world offers, but lasting peace rooted in His unchanging presence.
You’ve learned that peace requires confronting the undertow of unbelief, standing against opposition, refusing to let fear dominate, and dealing honestly with sin. You’ve discovered that joy isn’t dependent on circumstances but is an attitude God’s people adopt—a decision to hope in Christ’s power and love. You’ve been reminded to cherish God’s people, seek His presence, and believe His promises.
Peace has a name, and His name is Jesus. Joy has a source, and that source is God’s presence. As you celebrate Christmas this year, remember that the birth of Jesus wasn’t just a historical event—it was God stepping into our darkness to offer light, into our chaos to bring peace, into our sorrow to restore joy.
The same Jesus who came to Mary and Elizabeth, to Zechariah and the shepherds, comes to you today. He offers you His peace. He invites you into His joy. Will you receive Him?
