Reflection

When Mary heard she would bear the Messiah, she immediately traveled 90 miles to see Elizabeth. She didn't keep the joy to herself—she shared it. Sharing joy increases joy. It's easy to get isolated and think no one understands what you're going through, but joy grows stronger and more resilient when shared with others. That was part of the secret of the early church—their joy was contagious because they devoted themselves to fellowship.

Picture a man in rehab whose face lit up when his friend of 30 years visited. Or senior adults in wheelchairs whose faces beamed with joy as children sang Christmas carols. That's what happens when you share joy with others. We need to cherish each other. When you cherish God's people, you make the visit, you show up, you don't neglect the family of faith. You lift up the weak and bind up the brokenhearted.

Mary traveled far to be with someone who understood the miraculous work God was doing. She needed support, understanding, and shared joy. This Christmas, don't isolate yourself. Cherish the people God has placed in your life as fellow believers. Don't take them for granted. One way to experience more joy this week is to visit someone lonely or make a call to encourage someone. When you spread joy to others, you'll see your own joy increase.

Prayer

Father, thank You for placing people in my life who can share my joys and sorrows. Help me not to isolate myself but to cherish the family of faith. Show me someone who needs encouragement today, and give me the courage to reach out and share Your joy with them. Amen.
