"Abraham never wavered in believing God's promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever He promises." Romans 4:20-21

Reflection

When Elizabeth saw Mary, she exclaimed, "Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!" The baby in her womb leaped for joy, acknowledging the promised Messiah that Mary carried. John the Baptist would become the great forerunner of Christ, and even before birth, he was recognizing, "This is the One we've been waiting for! He's here and I'm leaping for joy!"

If you want more joy, believe God's promises. Believe them more than your present circumstances. Believe that God has good plans for you—plans to prosper you and give you a future. God keeps His promises. Consider the promises given to Mary: You will bear a son named Jesus. He will be great and called the Son of the Most High. His kingdom will have no end. Every promise came true. Not one failed.

Abraham was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever He promises. His faith grew stronger as he trusted God's word. When you're convinced God can do all He promises, you'll have a source of joy that never runs out. You won't be afraid for the future. Psalm 145:13 declares, "The LORD is trustworthy in all He promises and faithful in all He does." Circle that word "all"—God is trustworthy at all times, in all seasons. With every promise, God is faithful.

Which of God's promises do you need to believe more fully, and what doubts are keeping you from fully trusting Him?

Action Step

Choose one promise from Scripture that speaks to your current situation and write it down where you'll see it daily.

Prayer

God, You are faithful to all Your promises. Forgive me for doubting Your word and letting circumstances speak louder than Your truth. Help me to be fully convinced, like Abraham, that You are able to do whatever You promise. Strengthen my faith and fill me with joy as I trust You. Amen.
