"You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies." — Psalm 23:5a (ESV)
Reflection
There is something almost defiant about this image. Not "you rescue me from my enemies" or "you remove my enemies" — but you prepare a table in their presence. God doesn't always remove the opposition. Sometimes He simply demonstrates His greater power by blessing us right in the middle of it.
This speaks to the Lordship of Jesus in the most practical way. When we face opposition — from difficult circumstances, from people who oppose us, from spiritual forces of darkness — Jesus does not cower. He reigns. Paul writes in Romans 8:37, "We are more than conquerors through him who loved us." The enemies may surround the table, but they cannot take our place at it.
This also points forward to the ultimate banquet. Revelation 19:9 describes the "marriage supper of the Lamb" — the great feast that awaits those who belong to Jesus. One day, every knee will bow and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11). Today's table set amid opposition is a foretaste of that eternal celebration. When you walk through opposition and still experience God's provision, peace, and presence — you are sitting at that table. Let it remind you: Jesus is Lord over every enemy, seen and unseen.

Where do you feel most surrounded by opposition or difficulty? Can you see any evidence of God's provision even in that place?
Action Step
Identify one way God has blessed you even in a difficult season. Share that testimony with someone today as an act of declaring God's faithfulness.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, You are Lord even over my enemies. You reign even in the middle of my hardest moments. Help me to see Your provision today — the table You have set for me — and give me the courage to sit at it with gratitude. Amen.
